eToro will acquire US online brokerage TradeZero in a deal valued at up to $231 million, as the Nasdaq-listed trading platform expands its footprint in the American equities market.

TradeZero generated around $80 million in revenue over the 12 months through June, with an 81% gross margin.

The acquisition adds a platform focused on active traders across the US, Canada and international markets. eToro’s US equities business has also become a major contributor to its overall performance.

The company reported second-quarter net contribution of $229 million and net income of $53.5 million, while management said the deal could help accelerate new product launches for US customers.
