Tradeweb Markets has reported a record-breaking total trading volume of $50.9 trillion for August 2024, due to the increased demand for US government bonds and global repurchase agreements (repos).

The platform’s average daily volume (ADV) reached $2.21 trillion, reflecting a 53.9% rise compared to the same period in 2023. Leading the surge, US government bonds recorded an ADV of $228.2 billion, marking a 59.9% year-over-year growth.

European bonds and global repos also saw significant gains, further boosting the overall performance. Additionally, credit markets, particularly credit derivatives, experienced strong growth, while trading in municipal bonds and equities also posted solid increases.
